Brian
Lt. Brian Kyle used to be the extremely bored helmsman for one of the lesser ships of the Setnian Solar Fleet, the S.S.S. Hawk. His hostile relationship with his commander, who didn't hold with Brian's habit of playing video games while on duty, was interrupted when he was kidnapped by Chip (see below), who desperately grabbed the navigator from the nearest passing spacecraft in order to rescue Space Station Olorin from a nasty-looking spatial anomaly. Brian's self-absorption makes him seem pretty thick at times, and he's easily distracted, but he's bright and loyal in a pinch. Shortly before the attempted rescue he acquired a new body from experimental apparatus on the station, after Chip's initial attempt to transport him off the Hawk caused him to temporarily become a disembodied head, as so often happens in these cases. |

Kyle
Thanks to Chip's inability to properly conduct the experimental body generation equipment, Brian was accidentally replicated during the process of creating a body for his disembodied head, creating a separate, physically identical but mentally distinct twin. They decided shortly thereafter to split Brian's original name--one became Brian and the other Kyle. The fact that Kyle came into this world in an unusual way has yielded some unexpected side-effects and differences with his twin, both psychological and metaphysical. He too can be easily distracted and has a capacity for petulance, but is more likely to take the longer view and is rather more fond of chocolate and disco than his counterpart. |

Holographic User Interface SZ37 (Chip)
Chip, the holographic interface to the powerful central computer aboard the massive science station Olorin, is the only survivor of an ancient catastrophe. Long ago, the station was torn from its orbit and flung into the heart of the galaxy; soon all its inhabitants were dead from starvation, and only Chip was left as the empty station drifted for ages. After allowing himself to become dormant, Chip awoke when his sensors detected the ship was in danger from a peculiar hole in space. But he needed an actual corporeal being to pilot the station out of danger, and that was how Brian ended up aboard. Chip is a shade bitter from his endless wandering and easily exasperated by Brian and Kyle, yet is secretly glad of the company. Uncharted damage to his software and circuitry results in unexpected quirks and sudden system failures. |

| The Story So Far |
When the Space Station Olorin awoke to its danger from a spatial anomaly at the very center of the galaxy--the strange region called Galactic Zero--its first task was to find a corporeal being who could use the big shuttle in its own docking back to tow the ship to safety. Unfortunately, its attempt to kidnap a savior resulted only in the disembodied head of Lt. Brian Kyle.
The station's holographic avatar, Chip, succeeded in furnishing Brian with a new body, but unexpectedly replicated him as well. The result was that Brian Kyle became Brian and Kyle, two distinctly different versions of the onetime starship helmsman and Dragonfox XII champion.
Brian, Kyle, and Chip then began to work together to save the station from imminent disaster, little suspecting how ineffectual their efforts would be... |
